PublishAmerica and the Hagley Library Convention

PublishAmerica is still selling spaces to their authors for various services like this mid Atlantic authors convention supposedly at the Hagley Library in Delaware. PublishAmerica claims to be hosting this event that will have "e book professionals" and "book marketing experts" present.

There is an equally laughable announcement about this convention on a website called "Delaware Black." This was clearly written by somebody from the publishing company. Prove me wrong.

"PublishAmerica, the nation's leading traditional book publisher..." "Like more mainstream publishers, PublishAmerica pays its authors advances and royalties and makes its books available through all bookstores.PublishAmerica offers a distinctly personal, supportive alternative to vanity presses and less accessible publishers..." Enuff said.

PA has been more than a little vague about just where this convention is located. They have used the term, "It's near Philadelphia" but the Hagley Library is located in Wilmington, DE. Completely different state and different city. It is only about 30 some miles to Philadelphia but I still wouldn't call it located "near Philadelphia."

February 3rd falls on a Friday which is not on the weekend. I have taken the liberty of sending an inquiry to the Hagley Library for clarification on this huge, literary gathering of awesomeness. I will report back to the Barrister with full factual details. Over and out.

  1. regarding this convention, an authors asked on PublishAmerica's Facebook page about an upcoming convention in Ashville North Carolina. To my knowledge there isn't one.

    "George Moye:
I plan to attend the writer's convention in Ashville NC and would like some info on it, who is hosting it? What am i expected to bring? My books or will they provide them?"

PublishAmerica doesn't provide anything unless you pay for it.

Instead of correcting this author, PA simply pointed the author to their author's convention website.

PublishAmerica George - Here is the link http://www.authorsconvention.com/

Indeed that is pretty far from either Philadephia or Delaware. This is just so shady. I guess they don't care where the author thinks the convention is happening, so long as they can get them to fork over money.
