Another deadly Florida elderly driver

78-year-old woman died Sunday when she was run over in the parking lot of the Walmart store on South Military Trail in Delray Beach.
Anita Lobel, who lived in the nearby Polo Club of Boca Raton, was walking out of the store, 16205 S. Military Trail, Sunday afternoon after returning an item, when a Mercury sedan backed up over her, authorities said.
The driver was 89-year-old Mary Goldberg of Delray Beach, according to Delray Beach Police.
Evan Lobel, of Westchester, New York, said police called him around 4 p.m. to deliver the news about what happened to his mother.

"It concerns me that older folks are driving when they shouldn't be on the road," he said Monday morning.
Delray Beach Fire-Rescue paramedics arrived at Walmart at 3:13 p.m. and took the woman to nearby Delray Medical Center, Fire-Rescue Capt. Curtis Jepsen said. She still was awake when they left the hospital, he said.
Five hours later, Anita Lobel died, police said.
Evan Lobel, 55, said his mother was an active, healthy woman, he said, well loved by her three children and six granddaughters. She was a widow.
"It was a horrific accident," said her son, who flew to South Florida Monday morning with his two sisters. "The whole world is missing out on an amazing woman."
Goldberg is not facing criminal charges at this time, said Delray Beach Police Sgt. Nicole Guerriero.
