Pompano Beach Lawyer suspected of child porn kills himself

BROWARD SHERIFF'S OFFICE   Stephen David Jerome was a bankruptcy lawyer in Pompano Beach Florida. On the morning of Friday March 9th, the troubled 61 year old jumped to his death from the 11th floor roof of the  BankAtlantic building at 1600 S. Federal Hwy., His office was located on the 8th floor of the building. jerome jumped to his death just hours after posting bond at the Broward County Jail where he was being held on minor drug charges.   It seems to drug charges were the least of his problems. Officers armed with a warrant raided Jerome's residence the day before his arrest. Inside they found oxycodone, marijuana and drug paraphenalia. According to the search warrant, authorities expected to find two pornographic videos. The videos featured boys and girls as young as 7 years of age forced to have sex with adult men. Jerome's computer and other items were confiscated during the raid.   This would have been the second time the disgraced attorney faced child pornography charges. Back in 1990, the attorney was investigated for three months for suspicioun of child porn. Authorities seized his collection of European child porn magazines that he stashed in his bedroom closet. Jerome was charged with sexual performance by a child. He plead no contest to those charges and was sentanced to probation and community service.
