Bogus Barrister has an update on the story of Boggs Mountain Animal shelter in Georgia that was the target of an undercover investigation. Allegations stemmed from Lynne Cousins, an employee at the shelter, who told the news media that the "Lucky Dog" sponsorship program was a sham. You can read our initial report here. The Bogus Barrister has learned that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has now opened an investigation into the allegations of animal abuse and fraud. Boggs Mountain pulled many dogs and cats from other shelters including Macon Georgia Animal Control. Outraged people have driven for several hundeds of miles believing that Boggs Mountain was strictly no kill and were told that the animals they surrendered would find loving homes.
It seems that word of this story is just reaching other animal rescues by way of our coverage which is astounding to us, considering this has aired on Fox news in Atlanta. There are people who, when they first heard this story, reacted with "is this true? Is this for real? True. None of us wants to believe that those who run these shelters are rescues can so so greedy and abusive. But it is true. We are finding out where there is money to be made, crooks don't care who they have to exploit. We will keep you updated on the ongoing criminal investigation.
